Meftagesic P syrup is an analgesic medicine, composed of Mefenamic acid and paracetamol. Meftagesic P is used mainly in children to reduce fever, relieve mild to moderate pain, and decrease inflammation. It works by lowering body temperature and blocking pain signals in the brain (Paracetamol), while also reducing the production of chemicals called prostaglandins that causes pain and swelling (Mefenamic Acid).
Meftagesic P should be given only as prescribed by a doctor, based on the child’s age and weight. It should be taken after food to avoid stomach irritation, and overdose must be strictly avoided as it can cause serious liver damage, stomach ulcers, bleeding, or kidney problems. Common side effects of Meftagesic P are nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, dizziness, and loss of appetite, and medical help should be sought if any severe symptoms occur.

Meftagesic P is a combination pain-relieving and fever-reducing medicine that belongs to the class of Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) along with an antipyretic (Paracetamol). Meftagesic P syrup is used to treat symptoms of conditions like:
Meftagesic P syrup works by mainly, Paracetamol works mainly in the brain to lower body temperature and reduce the feeling of pain. Mefenamic Acid works by blocking certain chemicals in the body (prostaglandins) that cause pain, swelling, and fever. When these chemicals are reduced, the child experiences less pain and discomfort. Together, both medicines provide better and faster relief from fever and mild to moderate pain.
📌 Allergy / Hypersensitivity
If you are allergic to Meftagesic P, this can cause serious allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching, swelling of the face or throat, breathing difficulty, or severe reactions. Hence, inform your doctor if you have any history of allergy to painkillers before taking this medicine.
📌 Stomach Ulcer or Bleeding
If you have a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding, taking Mefenamic Acid can increase the risk of severe stomach pain, ulcers, or internal bleeding. Hence, inform your doctor before using Meftagesic P.

📌 Missed Dose
If you forget to take your medicine, take the medication as soon as you remember. If it’s nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Always consult the doctor before making any changes to your dosage.
📌 Overdose
It is not recommended to take Meftagesic P more than the prescribed dose. Overdose, especially due to Paracetamol, can cause serious liver damage, along with symptoms like nausea, vomiting, severe stomach pain, dizziness, drowsiness, and loss of appetite. Excess Mefenamic Acid may also increase the risk of stomach ulcers, bleeding, and kidney problems. In case of any of these symptoms, seek immediate medical help.
➡️ Mefenamic Acid tablets are used to treat menstrual pain (period pain), mild to moderate body pain, headache, toothache, muscle pain, joint pain, back pain, inflammation, and fever.
➡️ Mefenamic Acid is usually taken 2 to 3 times a day, as prescribed by the doctor. It should be taken after food to reduce stomach irritation, and the exact dose depends on the patient’s condition and age.
➡️ Mefenamic Acid works by blocking cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, which reduces the production of prostaglandins chemicals in the body that cause pain, inflammation, and fever.
➡️ Mefenamic Acid is not recommended during pregnancy, especially in the last 3 months, as it may harm the unborn baby. It should only be used if clearly prescribed by a doctor.
