Diabetes

This is a combination of two antidiabetic drugs metformin 1000 mg and glimepiride 1 mg .

It is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines, used for Type 2 Diabetes. Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea which works by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas in order to lower the blood glucose. Metformin is a biguanide which works by lowering glucose production in the liver, delaying glucose absorption from intestines and increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus also known as Diabetes Mellitus .

Metformin and glimepiride together help in controlling blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes pts. They increase the sensitivity of the body to insulin and also control glucose production.

Stomach pain , Nausea,Vomiting, Headache, Metalic taste, Diarrhoea,Flatulance, Hypoglycemia(Low blood glucose level )

Do regular exercise such as cycling, walking, jogging, dancing or swimming for a minimum of 30 minutes per day. Invest at least 150 minutes of your week in exercise.Maintain a low fat and a low sugar diet. Replace carbohydrates containing foods with whole grains, fruits and vegetables as carbohydrates turn to sugars leading to high blood sugar. Avoid consumption of alcohol and quit smoking.

Drug-Drug Interaction - The drug drug interaction with antibiotics (rifampicin, trimethoprim), calcium channel blockers (verapamil), antacid (cimetidine), HIV/AIDS drugs (dolutegravir), Heart-medicine (ranolazine), anticancer(vandetanib, crizotinib, olaparib), antifungals (fluconazole, miconazole), Diuretic (acetazolamide), antidiabetic drug (insulin), anticonvulsants (phenytoin). Drug food interaction : It may interact with alcohol. Therefore, avoid consumption of alcohol with this tablet as it may increase the risk of lactic acidosis (accumulation of lactic acid in the body). Drug-Disease interaction : Inform your doctos if you have severe infections, uncontrolled diabetes, lactic acidosis or ketoacidosis (accumulation of ketone bodies in the blood), dehydration, liver or kidney problems.

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Glimepiride 1 mg + metformin 1000 mg tablets.Glimepiride 1mg + metformin 1000 mg tablets may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby.Glimepiride 1 mg + metformin 1000 mg Tablet is unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Data suggests that the drug may cause toxicity to the baby.Glimepiride 1 mg + metformin 1000 mg tablets should be used with caution in patients with liver disease.

You can Monitor your blood sugar level with a glucometer regularly while you are taking this medicine. Your doctor may check your liver function regularly. Inform your doctor if you develop symptoms such as abdominal pain, loss of appetite, or yellowing of the eyes or skin (jaundice).Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any deep or rapid breathing or if you have persistent nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain as Glimepiride + Metformin may cause a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis, which is an excess of lactic acid in the blood.
