Terbin is an antifungal medicine belonging to the allylamine class of antifungal agents. It is mainly used to treat fungal infections of the skin, nails, and scalp, such as ringworms, jock itch, athlete’s foot, and nail fungus. It works by blocking the fungus from making an essential substance for its growth, which weakens and kills the fungus. The tablet is usually taken once daily, with or without food, but preferably with food to avoid stomach upset.
Common side effects include stomach discomfort, headache, rash, and changes in taste, while serious ones like yellowing of skin/eyes or trouble breathing need urgent medical care. It should be avoided in people with severe liver or kidney problems, and alcohol intake should also be avoided as it increases liver risk. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should use it only if prescribed by a doctor.

| How to Take This Medicine | To be taken orally |
Terbin is used to treat fungal infections in the following body parts:
Terbin works by blocking the production of ergosterol, substance fungi need to build their cell wall. Without it, the fungal cells become weak and stop growing, eventually dying. This helps clear infections of the skin, nails, or scalp, although it may take several weeks or months for healthy tissue to fully grow back.
📌 Allergic Individuals
Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to Terbin or any other antifungal medicine. Taking it again may cause serious allergy, rash, swelling, or breathing problems.
📌 Liver Problems
Do not take this medicine if you have serious liver disease, as Terbin is processed by the liver and may put additional strain on the liver, potentially worsening your liver problem.
📌 Kidney Problems
If your kidneys do not work well, this medicine may stay in your body for too long and cause harm, so inform your doctor so he may avoid or adjust the dose.
📌 Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, as this medicine may harm your baby.
Avoid taking Terbin with the following medicines, as it may increase or decrease the desired effect, or in worse cases and it could be fatal:
Avoid alcohol while taking Terbin, as it can strain your liver. Limit caffeine (tea, coffee, energy drinks) since the drug may slow its breakdown and cause restlessness or insomnia.
IUPAC (International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry)/ Chemical name
Terbinafine: N,6,6-trimethyl-N-(naphthalen-1-ylmethyl)hept-2-en-4-yn-1-amine

📌 Daily dose
Take Terbin exactly as your doctor recommends. The dose may change based on your condition and how well you respond. Do not take more than prescribed without consulting your doctor.
📌 Missed Dose
If you forget to take your medicine, take the medication as soon as you remember. If it’s nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Always consult the doctor before making any changes to your dosage.
📌 Overdose
Don’t take more than 500 mg of Terbin per day, as higher doses may cause overdosing effects like extreme nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, headache, dizziness, unusual tiredness, loss of appetite, dark urine, or yellowing of the skin/eyes. Consult a doctor immediately if you experience any of these symptoms.
➡️ Terbin tablets are used to treat fungal infections such as nail fungus (fingernails and toenails), ringworm on the body, groin (jock itch), feet (athlete’s foot), scalp, and other skin infections caused by fungus.
➡️ Common side effects include stomach upset, diarrhea, headache, skin rash, loss of appetite, and changes in taste. Rarely, it may cause serious problems like yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, severe rash, or trouble breathing if these happen, consult a doctor immediately.
➡️ Terbin works by blocking a substance the fungus needs to build its outer covering (cell wall). Without this, the fungus cannot grow and eventually dies, which helps clear the infection.
➡️ Terbin is generally not recommended during pregnancy unless the doctor decides the benefits outweigh the risks. There is limited safety information in pregnant women, so it should only be used if necessary and prescribed by a doctor.
