This is a combination of two antidiabetic drugs metformin 500 mg and voglibose 0.2 mg .
workings
It is a combination of Voglibose and Metformin. Voglibose belongs to the class of alpha-glucosidase inhibitors. It delays glucose absorption by inhibiting the intestinal enzymes, which break complex sugars into simple sugars such as glucose. This process prevents the rise of blood glucose levels immediately after meals. Metformin belongs to the class of biguanides. It shows the non-pancreatic effect to reduce serum glucose levels without increasing insulin secretion. It is also known as an insulin sensitizer as it increases the effects of insulin.

side effects
nausea, vomiting, changes in taste, diarrhoea, dizziness, stomach pain, shortness of breath, skin rash, bloating, and flatulence (intestinal wind/gas).
warnings
Do regular exercise such as cycling, walking, jogging, dancing or swimming for a minimum of 30 minutes per day. Invest at least 150 minutes of your week in exercise.Maintain a low fat and a low sugar diet. Replace carbohydrates containing foods with whole grains, fruits and vegetables as carbohydrates turn to sugars leading to high blood sugar. Avoid consumption of alcohol and quit smoking.
interactions
Drug-drug interaction-Voglibose 0.3 and metformin 500 mg Tablet may interact with anti-depressants (selegiline, isocarboxazid, phenelzine), anti-inflammatory drugs (prednisolone, phenylbutazone), drugs that treat fluid retention (metolazone, hydrochlorothiazide, chlorothiazide), medicines used to treat high blood pressure (propranolol, metoprolol), anabolic, and corticosteroids. Drug-food interaction-Limit alcohol intake since it affects blood sugar levels. Avoid fatty foods and include healthy carbohydrates in your diet. Drug-disease interaction- Tell your doctor before taking Voglibose 0.3 and metformin 500 mg Tablet if you have a medical history of allergic reactions to medicines, heart diseases, liver, and kidney problems. Voglibose 0.3 mg and metformin 500 mg Tablet may cause pneumatosis intestinalis (gas-filled cysts on the bowel wall) when used along with other alpha-gastrointestinal drugs.

Inform your doctor if you develop symptoms such as abdominal pain, loss of appetite, or yellowing of the eyes or skin (jaundice).Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any deep or rapid breathing or if you have persistent nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain as Glimepiride + Metformin may cause a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis, which is an excess of lactic acid in the blood.
