Triclor is an antibiotic medicine that is used to kill bacteria. It is mainly reserved for serious infections when other antibiotics are not effective or cannot be used. It helps treat conditions such as:
Triclor works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. It binds to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, preventing peptide bond formation. This stops bacteria from making essential proteins, leading to inhibition of bacterial growth and eventually bacterial death.
📌 Allergy Warning
If you are allergic to Triclor, inform your doctor, as it may cause serious allergic reactions such as rash, fever, swelling, or breathing difficulty.
📌 Severe Liver Problems
Communicate with your doctor about your past disease history, because Triclor is mainly metabolized in the liver. Poor liver function can cause the drug to build up in the body and lead to toxicity.
📌 Bone Marrow Disorders
Inform your doctor about your past disease history, as Triclor should not be used in people with existing bone marrow problems because it can further suppress blood cell formation and increase the risk of severe anemia or infections.
📌 Pregnant or Breastfeeding Women
Avoid Triclor during pregnancy/breastfeeding because it can cross the placenta and may harm the developing fetus, especially by affecting blood cell production.
Triclor can be taken with or without food. Taking it with food may help reduce stomach upset such as nausea or vomiting. There are no specific foods known to significantly interfere with its action. However, alcohol should be avoided during medical treatment, as it may increase the risk of side effects and put extra strain on the liver.
Avoid taking Triclor with the following medicines, as it may increase or decrease the desired effect, or in worse cases, it could be fatal:
IUPAC (International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry) / Chemical name
Triclor: 2,2-dichloro-N-[(1R,2R)-1,3-dihydroxy-1-(4-nitrophenyl)propan-2-yl]acetamide

📌 Daily dose
Take Triclor exactly as your doctor recommends. The dose may change based on your condition and how well you respond. Do not take more than prescribed without consulting your doctor.
📌 Missed Dose
If you forget to take your medicine, take the medication as soon as you remember. If it’s nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Always consult the doctor before making any changes to your dosage.
📌 Overdose
It is not recommended to take Triclor more than 50 mg/kg per day. Overdose may cause tremors, chest pain, fast or irregular heartbeat, nervousness, dizziness, headache, muscle cramps, or high blood pressure. In case of any of these symptoms, seek immediate medical help.
Triclor is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used mainly for serious bacterial infections when other antibiotics are not suitable. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, thereby stopping bacterial growth. While it can be effective, its use is limited due to the risk of serious side effects such as bone marrow suppression and rare but fatal aplastic anemia. It should not be used in newborns, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and people with bone marrow disorders, and must be used with caution in liver or kidney disease. Triclor can be taken with or without food, but alcohol should be avoided. Because of its potential risks, it should only be used under strict medical supervision.
➡️ Triclor is an antibiotic that treats infections caused by bacteria, like ear infections, eye infections, or skin infections. It helps stop the bacteria from growing and spreading, so your infection gets better.
➡️ It stops bacteria from making proteins, which they need to grow and multiply. Without these proteins, the bacteria cannot survive or spread, so the infection gets better.
➡️ You may notice burning, stinging, redness, or itching where the drops are applied. Mild swelling or a feeling of fullness in the ear can also occur. These usually go away on their own.
