Tamsulosin 0.4 mg + finasteride 5 mg is a combination medication used to treat symptoms of an enlarged prostate gland in men, a condition called benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). This medication is available in tablet form and comes in a package of 15 tablets.

Tamsulosin belongs to a class of drugs called alpha-blockers, which work by relaxing the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making it easier to urinate. Finasteride, on the other hand, is a type of medication called a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor, which reduces the production of a hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT) that contributes to prostate gland enlargement.

Together, tamsulosin and finasteride work to improve urinary symptoms associated with BPH, such as difficulty starting urination, weak urine stream, and the need to urinate frequently or urgently. This medication is usually taken once a day, with or without food, as directed by a healthcare provider.
