Insulin isophane 40 iu Injection is an intermediate-acting insulin, that starts working in 1-2 hours after injection. It works similar to the insulin that is produced by the body. Insulin facilitates reuptake of sugar in muscle and fat cells and also suppresses the production of sugar in the liver. This helps to lower the blood sugar levels in diabetes mellitus.

warnings
Do regular exercise such as cycling, walking, jogging, dancing or swimming for a minimum of 30 minutes per day. Invest at least 150 minutes of your week in exercise.Maintain a low fat and a low sugar diet. Replace carbohydrates containing foods with whole grains, fruits and vegetables as carbohydrates turn to sugars leading to high blood sugar. Avoid consumption of alcohol and quit smoking.

Drug-drug interaction-This medicine may have an interaction with anti-depressants (phenelzine, iproniazid, isocarboxazid, nialamide, imipramine, desipramine, tranylcypromine, moclobemide), anti Parkinson’s drug (selegiline), antibiotic (linezolid), (lithium, tryptophan), migraines drug (sumatriptan), pain killer (tramadol), anti-ulcer (cimetidine, lansoprazole, omeprazole), anti-fungal (fluconazole),blood-thinners (warfarin, dipyridamole, and phenprocoumon), antimalarial (mefloquine), heart-related drug (flecainide, propafenone), and medicines that decrease blood levels of potassium or magnesium, as these increase the risk of life-threatening heart rhythm disorder. Drug-Food Interaction: Try to avoid intake of alcoholic beverages with insulin isophane 40IU/ml Suspension for Injection 10 ml as it may increase or decrease your blood sugar level. Drug-Disease Interaction: insulin isophane 40IU/ml Suspension for Injection 10 ml should not be given to patients with kidney disease, liver disease, low potassium level (hypokalaemia) and low blood sugar/glucose level (hypoglycaemia).
contraindications
You are recommended not to consume alcohol along with insuline isophane 40IU/ml Suspension for Injection 10 ml to avoid unpleasant side-effects. Alcohol may either decrease or increase the blood sugar level which can be fatal. Please inform your doctor if you are pregnant as a dose adjustment may be required. The amount of insulin you need usually falls during the first three months of pregnancy and increases for the remaining six months.Please inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding as a dose adjustment may be required.

You can Monitor your blood sugar level with a glucometer regularly while you are taking this medicine. Your doctor may check your liver function regularly. Inform your doctor if you develop symptoms such as abdominal pain, loss of appetite, or yellowing of the eyes or skin (jaundice).Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any deep or rapid breathing or if you have persistent nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain as Glimepiride + Metformin may cause a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis, which is an excess of lactic acid in the blood.
