| How to Take This Medicine | This medicine is meant to be used in the eyes only |
Moxi D eye drops are a combination medicine used to treat bacterial eye infections and reduce inflammation. They are useful for the following indications:
This eye drop is a combination of two medicines that work in different ways to help your eyes heal. Moxifloxacin is an antibiotic that kills the bacteria causing the infection by blocking their ability to make and copy DNA. Without new DNA, the bacteria die, and the infection clears up. Dexamethasone is a strong steroid that reduces swelling, redness, pain, and irritation in the eye. By working together, Moxifloxacin treats the infection, while Dexamethasone controls the inflammation, making your eye feel better and heal faster.
📌 Allergy Warning
If you are allergic to Moxi D , or similar medicines, you should not use these drops because they can cause swelling, rash, or even breathing problems. Always consult your doctor if you ever had such allergies.
📌 Viral or Fungal Eye Infections
These drops do not work for viral or fungal infections, and the steroid part can make the infection spread. Your doctor will check what kind of infection you have before starting these drops.
📌 Tuberculosis of the eye
Dexamethasone may allow tuberculosis infection in the eye get worse, as it increases pressure in the eye. Always inform your doctor if you ever had tuberculosis or eye problems before.
📌 Glaucoma
Dexamethasone can increase pressure and slowly damage vision. Your doctor will decide if these drops are safe for you.
📌 Children, pregnant women, or breastfeeding mothers
Safety is not fully known, so these drops should only be used if a doctor feels it’s absolutely needed. Never use without your doctor’s advice.
Avoid taking caffeinated food, alcohol and smoking simultaneously as they can cause an increase or decrease in drug action; also, they may cause severe drowsiness and sedation as they act on the brain directly.
Avoid taking Moxi D with the following medicines, as it may increase or decrease the desired effect, or in worse cases, it could be fatal:
IUPAC (International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry) / Chemical name
Moxifloxacin: 7-[(4aS,7aS)-1,2,3,4,4a,5,7,7a-octahydropyrrolo[3,4-b]pyridin-6-yl]-1-cyclopropyl-6-fluoro-8-methoxy-4-oxoquinoline-3-carboxylic acid

📌 Daily dose
Take Moxi D exactly as your doctor recommends. The dose may change based on your condition and how well you respond. Do not take more than prescribed without consulting your doctor.
📌 Missed Dose
If you forget to take your medicine, take the medication as soon as you remember. If it’s nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Always consult the doctor before making any changes to your dosage.
📌 Overdose
Do not use more Moxi D drops than prescribed by your doctor. Using too many drops can increase the risk of eye irritation, stinging, redness, or blurred vision. If you experience severe reactions such as swelling around the eyes, eye pain, vision changes, or difficulty breathing, stop using the drops immediately and seek medical attention.
Moxi D eye drops are used to treat bacterial eye infections and reduce redness, swelling, pain, and irritation, especially after eye surgery. Moxifloxacin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria causing infections by preventing them from multiplying. Dexamethasone is a steroid that reduces inflammation, redness, and discomfort. Common side effects include mild burning or stinging, temporary blurred vision, watery eyes, or mild eye irritation. Rare but serious side effects may include increased eye pressure (glaucoma), clouding of the lens (cataract), delayed healing, severe allergic reactions, or sudden vision changes. These drops should not be used by people allergic to either ingredient, those with viral or fungal eye infections, eye tuberculosis, glaucoma, or by children, pregnant, or breastfeeding women unless prescribed by a doctor.

➡️ Common side effects include mild burning, stinging, temporary blurred vision, redness, or watery eyes. Rarely, it may cause swelling of the eyelids, severe irritation, allergic reactions, or worsening of the infection.
➡️ Moxifloxacin belongs to the fluoroquinolone antibiotics class, which work by killing bacteria and treating bacterial infections in the eye.
➡️ People who are allergic to Moxifloxacin or other fluoroquinolone antibiotics should not take it, as it can cause serious allergic reactions. It should also be avoided in people with a history of tendon problems related to fluoroquinolones, those with certain heart rhythm disorders (prolonged QT interval), and in children or pregnant women unless specifically prescribed by a doctor.
➡️ Some people may feel burning, stinging, or irritation in the eye (with drops). With tablets, it may cause stomach upset, headache, trouble sleeping, or mood changes.
➡️ Dexamethasone is a strong steroid medicine. It works by reducing swelling, redness, and irritation. It does this by blocking certain natural chemicals in the body that cause inflammation and allergic reactions.
