This is a combination of two antidiabetic drugs metformin 500 mg and vildagliptin 50 mg .
workings
It is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines: Metformin and Vildagliptin. Metformin is an anti-diabetic medication (biguanide). It works by lowering glucose production in the liver, delaying glucose absorption from intestines and increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin. Vildagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor which works by increasing the release of insulin from the pancreas and decreasing the hormones that raise blood sugar levels. This reduces both fasting and postmeal sugar levels. Together, they provide better control of blood sugar.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus also known as Diabetes Mellitus .
side effects
hypoglycemia (low blood glucose levels) characterised by dizziness, sweating, palpitations, hunger pangs, dry mouth and skin etc.
warnings
Do regular exercise such as cycling, walking, jogging, dancing or swimming for a minimum of 30 minutes per day. Invest at least 150 minutes of your week in exercise.Maintain a low fat and a low sugar diet. Replace carbohydrates containing foods with whole grains, fruits and vegetables as carbohydrates turn to sugars leading to high blood sugar. Avoid consumption of alcohol and quit smoking.
interactions
Drug-Drug interaction- Vildagliptin 50 mg and metformin 500 mgTablet interacts with pain killers (aspirin, ibuprofen, and celecoxib), high blood pressure-lowering pills (nifedipine, captopril, enalapril, lisinopril), thyroid hormones (thyroxine), antacid (cimetidine) or certain medicines affecting the nervous system. Drug-Food Interactions: Intake of excessive alcoholic beverages with Vildagliptin 50 mg and metformin 500 mg may increase the chance of life-threatening condition known as Lactic Acidosis. So, avoid intake of alcoholic beverages with Vildagliptin 50 mg and metformin 500 mg . Drug-Disease Interactions: People affected with heart diseases (like congestive heart failure and myocardial infarction), vitamin B12 deficiency, and alcoholism should avoid intake of Vildagliptin 50 mg and metformin 500 mg Tablet.
contraindications
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Vildagliptin 50 mg Metformin 500 mg Tablet. Vildagliptin 50 mg Metformin 500 mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby.Vildagliptin 50 mg Metformin 500 mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.

You can Monitor your blood sugar level with a glucometer regularly while you are taking this medicine. Your doctor may check your liver function regularly. Inform your doctor if you develop symptoms such as abdominal pain, loss of appetite, or yellowing of the eyes or skin (jaundice).Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any deep or rapid breathing or if you have persistent nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain as Glimepiride + Metformin may cause a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis, which is an excess of lactic acid in the blood.
