This is a drug used in peptic ulcers . ie. Famotidine 40 mg.

Famotidine 40 mg is a histamine H2 receptor antagonist. It works by reducing the acid produced in the stomach.

Ulcers of the stomach and intestines,,acid reflux,, peptic ulcer disease,,heartburn.

Famotidine 20 mg is used for treatment of peptic ulcer,acid reflux or heartburn. It is histamine h2 blocker that prevents acid production in the stomach.

Headache,,Diarrhea,,Drowsiness,,Constipation

Warning : Inform you doctor if you have some allergic reaction after taking famotidine .In case of a missed dose take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the previous one but do not take more medicine as overdosing may have adverse effects. If you do overdose then it is advised that you seek medical help immediately without delay.

Drug drug interaction : Famotidine may interact with other antacids, antifungal drugs eg ketoconazole and itraconazole, medications used to treat hepatitis C ,medications used to treat leukaemia , antibiotic ie. cefditoren, and HIV medications example fosamprenavir.

Drug food interaction : Avoid taking soft drinks, citrus fruits like orange and lemon, which can irritate the stomach and increase acid secretion and affect the work of famotidine in body.

Drug disease interaction : Famotidine may interact with patients having disease gastrointestinal bleeding, lactose intolerance, stomach infection, and kidney dysfunction.

Take the medicine as soon as you can, but skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose. Do not take two doses at one time.Inform your doctor if you have ever been diagnosed with kidney disease as dose of your medicine may need to be adjusted.

Inform you doctor before taking Famotidine is considered safe to take during pregnancy and breastfeeding if a doctor has prescribed it. Avoid drinking alcohol as this can increase the amount of acid in your stomach, and make your symptoms worse.

Store this medicine at room temperature, away from sunlight and moisture.

Swallow the tablets /capsule whole, do not crush or chew.,,Follow your doctor's instructions for adjusting your dose.
