directions
Clomiphene 50 mg is a medication used to treat infertility in women who have difficulty ovulating. It is sold in tablet form, and each package contains 10 tablets. Clomiphene is also known by its brand names, Clomid or Serophene.
Clomiphene is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) that works by blocking estrogen receptors in the hypothalamus, which stimulates the pituitary gland to release follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). These hormones stimulate the growth and development of ovarian follicles, which leads to ovulation.
The usual starting dose of clomiphene is 50 mg taken orally once a day for five days, usually starting on the fifth day of the menstrual cycle. If ovulation does not occur, the dose may be increased in subsequent cycles. Treatment with clomiphene usually lasts for up to six cycles.
Clomiphene may cause some side effects, including hot flashes, mood swings, breast tenderness, nausea, and headaches. In rare cases, it may also cause visual disturbances or ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).
It is important to note that clomiphene should only be taken under the supervision of a healthcare provider, as it can increase the risk of multiple pregnancies and may not be appropriate for all women with infertility.
