Ampiclox Capsules is an antibiotic medicine that belongs to the class of penicillin’s. It is used to kill bacteria and treat infections in the following area:
Ampicillin works by preventing bacteria from building their protective outer wall. Without this wall, the bacteria become weak and break apart, which kills them. Cloxacillin also stops bacteria from forming this protective wall. Because of this, this combination can kill certain resistant bacteria and help clear the infection effectively.
📌 Allergy/Hypersensitivity
If you are allergic to this medication, inform your doctor as taking this medicine can cause some serious side effects like breathing problems, wheezing, skin rashes, swelling, or serious allergic reactions.
📌 Kidney Problems
If you have severe kidney disease, communicate with your doctor, as the medicine may build up in your body and increase side effects. Dose adjustment may be required.
📌 Liver Problems

📌 History of Antibiotic-Associated Diarrhea
Avoid if you previously developed severe diarrhea or any gut infection caused by bad bacteria (i.e. C. difficile) after taking antibiotics, unless your doctor decides it’s necessary.
Avoid alcohol as it worsens nausea or dizziness. Drink plenty of water to help the body absorb and eliminate the medicine properly.
Avoid taking Ampiclox Capsules with the following medicines, as it may increase or decrease the desired effect, or in worse cases, it could be fatal:

Ampicillin: (2S,5R,6R)-6-[[(2R)-2-amino-2-phenylacetyl]amino]-3,3-dimethyl-7-oxo-4-thia-1-azabicyclo[3.2.0]heptane-2-carboxylic acid
Cloxacillin: (2S,5R,6R)-6-[[3-(2-chlorophenyl)-5-methyl-1,2-oxazole-4-carbonyl]amino]-3,3-dimethyl-7-oxo-4-thia-1-azabicyclo[3.2.0]heptane-2-carboxylic acid
📌 Daily dose
Take Ampiclox Capsules exactly as your doctor recommends. The dose may change based on your condition and how well you respond. Do not take more than prescribed without consulting your doctor.
📌 Missed Dose
If you forget to take your medicine, take the medication as soon as you remember. If it’s nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Always consult the doctor before making any changes to your dosage.
📌 Overdose
It is not recommended to take Ampiclox Capsules more than 500 mg per day. Overdose may cause tremors, chest pain, fast or irregular heartbeat, nervousness, dizziness, headache, muscle cramps, or high blood pressure. In case of any of these symptoms, seek immediate medical help.
Ampiclox Capsules is an antibiotic combination used to treat bacterial infections of the throat, ear, sinuses, chest, urinary tract, skin, teeth, and bones. Ampicillin kills a wide range of bacteria, while Cloxacillin works especially against staphylococcus bacteria, making the treatment more effective. It helps clear infection by breaking the outer wall of bacteria. This medicine should be taken exactly as prescribed, and common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upset, or mild rash. Always complete the full course even if you feel better.
➡️ The usual adult dose is 250 mg Ampicillin + 250 mg cloxacillin, taken 2–3 times daily after food, for 5–7 days or as prescribed by the doctor. The dose for children varies based on age and weight and should be given only on medical advice. Missed doses should not be doubled.
