This is a combination of two antidiabetic drugs metformin 500 mg and glimepiride 1mg .

workings

It is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines, used for Type 2 Diabetes. Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea which works by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas in order to lower the blood glucose. Metformin is a biguanide which works by lowering glucose production in the liver, delaying glucose absorption from intestines and increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin.

Drug-Drug Interaction - Glimepiride 1 mg + metformin 500 mg interact with antibiotics (rifampicin, trimethoprim), calcium channel blockers (verapamil), antacid (cimetidine), HIV/AIDS drugs (dolutegravir), Heart-medicine (ranolazine), anticancer(vandetanib, crizotinib, olaparib), antifungals (fluconazole, miconazole), Diuretic (acetazolamide), antidiabetic drug (insulin), anticonvulsants (phenytoin). Drug food interaction : Glimepiride 1 mg + metformin 500 mg may interact with alcohol. Therefore, avoid consumption of alcohol with this tablet as it may increase the risk of lactic acidosis (accumulation of lactic acid in the body). Drug-Disease interaction : Inform your doctos if you have severe infections, uncontrolled diabetes, lactic acidosis or ketoacidosis (accumulation of ketone bodies in the blood), dehydration, liver or kidney problems.
