About Amoxicillin 500 mg + Clavulanic Acid 125 mg

Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid are penicillin-class antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections such as throat infections (tonsillitis, pharyngitis), ear infections (otitis media), sinus infections, chest infections like bronchitis and pneumonia, urinary tract infections (UTIs), skin and soft-tissue infections, dental infections, and infections caused by bacteria resistant to amoxicillin alone. It works by blocking bacterial cell wall formation (amoxicillin) and inhibiting bacterial enzymes (beta-lactamases) that destroy amoxicillin (clavulanic acid), making it effective against resistant bacteria. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, headache, and mild rash, while rare serious effects may include severe allergic reactions, liver problems, severe diarrhea, dizziness, and yeast infections.

It should not be taken by people allergic to penicillin or cephalosporins and should be used with caution in those with kidney or liver problems, severe allergies, or a history of antibiotic-related diarrhea. The medicine can be taken with or without food, and intake of alcohol should be avoided. It is generally considered safe during pregnancy if prescribed by a doctor.
